On Thursday, Notre Dame football started its fall practices, and true freshman tight end Ian Premer was noticed by offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
A day later, it was another freshman, running back Jonaz Walton who caught the eye of his position coach Ja’Juan Seider. The difference here is that the 5-foot, 9-inch and 214-pounder has been on campus since January. Enrolling early has clearly made a difference for the Georgia native, has it looks like he’s going to see the field this fall.
Seider told reporters on Friday that “this kid (Walton) is too talented. He’s going to play this year. He’s got it all.” That’s some pretty high praise for a first-year player, as his position coach knows a good running back when he sees one. After coaching
Penn State’s duo of Kaytron Allen and Nick Singleton, he oversaw two first-round draft picks last fall for the Irish in Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price.
With just one back, Aneyas Williams, with enough experience to be comfortable with playing time, it looks like Walton will have a chance to move up the depth chart and see the field this fall.

Aneyas Williams also said Walton got a few reps with the ones on Friday.
