Notre Dame quarterback C.J. Carr entered the season with high expectations, and three games in, he has lived up to the hype.
According to Pro Football Focus, Carr is tied for third among the nation's highest-graded quarterbacks with a 92.8 grade. Carr is only behind West Virginia's Mike Hawkins Jr., and Nebraska's Anthony Colandrea in the latest update heading into Week 4.
PFF's grading system evaluates every play rather than relying exclusively on box score statistics.
Carr is coming off a performance against Rice where he achieved a 94.3 overall PFF grade in a 52-0 victory. In that game, he completed 16 of 20 passes for 253 yards and four touchdowns.
The PFF grade confirms the eye test that Irish fans have been seeing all season long. Carr is not
just producing favorable statistics in the box score, but he continues to be one of the most productive and efficient quarterbacks in the country.
Of course, the season remains young, and the competition will get tougher which could lead to changes in his PFF grades. However, Carr's current standing proves that the Irish have one of the most-trusted signal-callers in the country.
