No. 2 Notre Dame fell 28-24 to No. 8 BYU on Saturday night. And the final play will be talked about for a long time. For two reasons.
Those watching the game in real time might wonder if BYU got away with a defensive pass interference call on the game's final play, an incomplete pass from Fighting Irish quarterback CJ Carr to wide receiver Jaden Greathouse. Even Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit, the commentators on the ABC broadcast, as well as ABC's rules analyst, Matt Austin, argued it was pass interference.
Well, now there's another possible reason for Notre Dame fans to be upset -- the game clock appeared to still show one second left when the play ended.

If Notre Dame did indeed get jobbed out of one second, I am going to call that a "reverse Michigan" in honor of the Wolverines' second-chance Hail Mary back in Week 1.
Any time a game comes down to the final play, one can always point to earlier plays as being a part of the reason for a win or a loss -- but Notre Dame fans would have justifiable reason for anger at the officiating if not one, but two missed calls on the final play prevented the Irish from having one more shot at victory.
