Quarterback CJ Carr put up big numbers in US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 Notre Dame’s 37-26 victory against North Carolina over the weekend.
Carr completed 72.4% of his passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns and added a rushing score for the Fighting Irish. The star QB’s efforts to anchor Notre Dame to a win led to him being named the Manning Award Star Of The Week
. Former Indiana star QB Fernando Mendoza won the award last season.The Manning Award is an annual honor given to the nation’s top collegiate QB. The award honors the legacy of Archie Manning and his sons, Peyton and Eli. Archie and Eli played for Ole Miss, while Peyton competed at Tennessee in college.
Carr has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,197 yards and 16 total touchdowns
(13 in the air, 3 on the ground) through five games for the Irish.
Notre Dame (5-0) and Stanford square off on Saturday in South Bend.
