It wasn’t the news that the Arizona Cardinals wanted to hear, running back Jeremiyah Love, the star taken No. 3 overall out of Notre Dame may miss the rest of the preseason after suffering an ankle injury during Thursday’s victory over the Oakland Raiders according to Adam Schefter.
The potential starter had a fantastic first showing, rushing for 58-yards on 11 carries with three catches for 14-yards. As with all preseason games, the top players don’t get much run, so this was just a taste of what Love can do. Every trait that you want to see from a running back is there, as he used his spin move that wowed social media.
You have to wonder if the Cardinals made the right choice by sitting Love for its first preseason game, as head coach Mike LaFleur
said following the contest that he is “a rookie that hadn’t played much.” Unfortunately, that is going to be the case for the next few weeks, as Love will be looked at again next week and then re-evaluated. The Cardinals are hopeful that he’ll be ready to go for the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
