No. 6 Notre Dame currently holds a top-five ranking in one of the metrics that the college football playoff selection committee uses when considering which teams to include.
It's called game control, and Notre Dame is number four in the rankings.
Ohio State, Miami (FL) and Georgia are ahead of Notre Dame, and LSU rounds out the top five.
The metric, created by ESPN, measures how thoroughly a team dominates from start to finish, adjusted for strength of schedule.
If Notre Dame keeps its ranking high over the remainder of the season, that could help it earn a playoff berth even if the team loses more than one game.
