US LBM Coaches Poll No. 3 Notre Dame is becoming a heavy favorite to qualify for the College Football Playoff this season.

While most CFP projections have the Fighting Irish outside the top-four seeds, one outlet has them as a top team.

In Sports Illustrated’s latest CFP bracket projections, they have Notre Dame as the top seed

. SI then has the winner of the No. 8 BYU vs. No. 9 LSU first-round contest facing the Irish in the quarterfinals.

SI last week had Notre Dame as the No. 2 seed and Texas as the top seed. This week, the Irish and the Longhorns swapped spots in the projected bracket.

Notre Dame (3-0) is determined to reach the CFP national championship game after being snubbed out of the tournament last season. The Irish are set to face Purdue

(1-2) on Saturday.
