Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Hezekiah Masses has made an immediate impact in coverage through the first three weeks of the season. Masses has been all over the field, as he’s tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with three, and has helped the Raiders
get off to an 3-0 start to the year, but his excellence in the area of passer rating allowed in coverage adds to his impressive body of work thus far.According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Masses has allowed the third-lowest passer rating in coverage among all cornerbacks in the NFL this season with a rating of 18.2.

1. Trent McDuffie – 13.7
2. Mansoor Delane – 16.7
3. Hezekiah Masses – 18.2

Rams star Trent McDuffie (13.7) and Kansas City Chiefs rookie Mansoor Delane (16.7) are the only two cornerbacks who have allowed a lower passer rating in coverage than Masses thus far.
To limit quarterbacks the likes of Los Angeles Chargers star QB Justin Herbert, New Orleans Saints rising star Tyler Shough and Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis in passer rating in coverage, a metric that, according to Packers.com’s Mike Spofford, measures efficiency and production through a formula of weighted statistics including “completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown passes, and interceptions,” is impressive to say the least.
The season remains young, but Masses has established himself as an important contributor for the Raiders. Maintaining that production for the rest of the season is what he will be tasked with on a Raiders team that is in position to make a playoff push this year.
