The Las Vegas Raiders open the season Sunday, welcoming the Miami Dolphins to Allegiant Stadium. Both teams are in a rebuilding mode, with new coaching staffs and new veteran quarterbacks behind center. The difference being Las Vegas is probably a year ahead of Miami in that rebuild, having already secured their future franchise QB with the top pick in the draft. While the Dolphins could be looking to the 2027 NFL Draft to find theirs.
Even with top pick Fernando Mendoza in the building, the Raiders offense will be led by veteran Kirk Cousins. The Dolphins will be led by Malik Willis who had bided his time as a backup for four seasons, first in Tennessee and then in Green Bay. Now getting his first real shot at being a starter for a Dolphins team
that stripped itself of stars this past offseason, including top target Jaylen Waddle.
The expectations are not high for either club this season, so the predictions are for a close game.
