The Raiders continue tinkering with the receiver position as they search for depth and try to uncover some hidden talent. Monday they added former Browns WR Jamari Thrash to the practice squad. And in a corresponding move, played WR Tyler Scott on injured reserve.
Thrash was a fifth round pick by the Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Louisville. He appeared 18 games over his first two seasons, catching 13 passes for 129 yards.
The 6-0, 190-pounder was placed on injured reserve during training camp and last month was waived with an injury settlement. Now he's healthy again, leading to the Raiders signing him.
The reason players reach injury settlements with teams is if they believe they will be able to return much sooner and that's the only way
they can do that after being placed on season-ending IR. The settlement is for the number of weeks the player thinks they will need to recover and once that time is up, they can be signed, either back to the team that waived them or by another team.
