With 90 players on a roster, it can lead to players putting on numbers in the offseason they may not keep once the regular season begins. When the roster cuts come down is the moment a slew of options come available for those who make the roster.
A couple of veteran additions wasted no time in swapping out their number when ones they liked better came available.
One was DT Folorunso Fatukasi. He wore number 63 in camp and preseason. And now that he has earned a roster spot in Las Vegas he will wear number 94. He wore that number during his first six NFL seasons with the Jets and Jaguars.
Another was K Matt Gay, who has switched from number 14 to number 4. This will be the sixth different number he has worn in his NFL career.
It was Shedrick Jackson
who wore that number throughout the offseason and training camp. Jackson was cut on Sunday and was not among the announced 16-man practice squad the team announced on Monday.
Make a note of it.
