Though it didn't come up during the game for the Raiders, Tonka Hemingway saw just 13 snaps against the Jets before leaving with an injury and not returning. The snap counts revealed Hemingway's unusually low snaps and on Monday Klint Kubiak revealed the reason why.
βYHe had a stinger come up in the game, and we continue to evaluate him," Kubiak said of Hemginway's situation.
This is the second time this season Hemingway has left a game with what was described initially as stingers. The last time was Week 5 in New England and when the team hit the practice field on Wednesday, the second-year DT was a non-participant with a concussion that would cost him the team's Week 6 game against the Bills.
Hemingway came out of camp as the top interior defensive
lineman on the team and started the first five games. They can ill afford to lose their best interior defender especially when they are about to embark on a tough three-game stretch against the 49ers, Seahawks, and Broncos.
