There was probably a hope by the 49ers that Christian Kirk could step up and help fill some big shoes for them this Sunday. That won't happen.
After already facing the losses of top receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, the 49ers then also saw Kirk go down in practice this week. Now all three have been ruled OUT, leaving the 49ers woefully thin at the wide receiver position in Week 9.

OUT
Mike Evans
Deebo Samuel
Christian Kirk
QUESTIONABLE
Nate Hobbs
Siran Neal
Demarcus Robinson
Marques Sigle
Upton Stout
Nick Bosa, Christian McCaffrey are full go
That means the likely starters for the 49ers will be Jordan Watkins and Demarcus Robinson. The combination of which have 11 catches for 222 yards and one touchdown on the season. Other receivers
who could see increased playing time include Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing, and KhaDarel Hodge.
That's not a group that is going to terrify anyone. Then again, the Raiders pass defense has allowed plenty of receptions to somewhat under-the-radar receivers this season. This includes Jets WR Adonei Mitchell who just put up a career-high 142 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.
There is no question this puts the 49ers at somewhat of a disadvantage. Not to say it doesn't still make them favored over the Raiders, but as bad as the Raiders defense has been, having to face the likes of Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and even Christian Kirk would put them in firmly in the 'no chance in hell' category. Now? We'll see.
