We're four weeks into the NFL season. A few years ago that would be a nice, tidy quarter of the season. But even though the NFL now plays 17 games, four games seems to be when the first time to begin judging player performance. For the rookies, it's their entire career so far.
The Athletic's resident draft guru Dane Brugler put together his Early All-Rookie Team and a few Raiders made the team.
First team: CB Hezekiah Masses
Currently tied for the NFL lead with three interceptions, Masses also tops all rookies in passes defended (six). His last two games haven’t been as strong, but he is still allowing fewer than 50 percent completions when targeted.
Second team: RB Mike Washington
Washington is one of just three rookie running backs to have scored a touchdown. He leads all first-year backs in yards per carry
(5.0), and it’s notable how he has cut into Ashton Jeanty’s share of the workload.
Honorable Mention: S Treydan Stukes was honorable mention
Those are really the only three Raiders rookies who have seen enough playing time to be considered for such a team. Top pick QB Fernando Mendoza hasn't played a snap while third round OL Trey Zuhn III has played sparingly and fourth round CB Jermod McCoy has seen action mainly on special teams.
