Las Vegas Raiders star Ashton Jeanty is a must-start running back for fantasy football team managers in Week 3. Jeanty started off the year with a bang in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins before cooling off in the team’s most recent game against the Los Angeles Chargers, but the upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints makes him a player to anticipate much production out of on Sunday.
Sports Illustrated’s Michael Fabiano ranked Jeanty No. 7 overall on his list of the top 10 fantasy football running backs in the NFL for Week 3.
Jeanty began the season with a dynamic Week 1 performance, producing 147 total yards and two touchdowns against Miami. He followed that performance up with 63 total yards in Week 2. Although his rushing output declined,
going from 102 yards in Week 1 to 48 in Week 2, Jeanty still handled a substantial share of Las Vegas’ offensive opportunities and remained active as a pass catcher.
Jeanty’s combination of rushing volume, receptions and touchdown scoring gives fantasy football team managers a sturdy floor and the potential for a game-breaking performance in Week 3.
The Saints enter Week 3 having struggled to contain opposing rushing attacks. They have allowed the sixth-most rushing yards in the NFL this season with 273 at five yards per carry, along with three rushing touchdowns. That vulnerability presents Jeanty with a favorable opportunity to rebound and deliver another high-end fantasy performance in Week 3.
