Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak has made an early mark on the franchise through the first three weeks of the season. Kubiak has led the Raiders to a 3-0 start to begin the year and has entered rarified air with the record that he’s earned.
As ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently pointed out, Kubiak became the third head coach in Raiders franchise history to begin his tenure with a 3-0 record,
joining Bill Callahan and John Madden.That puts Kubiak's hot start to the year in some elite company. Madden became one of the most celebrated coaches in franchise history, and his 3-0 start to the season in 1969 led out a 12-1-1 campaign, good for No. 1 in the AFL West division. Las Vegas went on to lose to the Kansas City Chiefs 17-7 in the championship
game that year.
Callahan's first season in 2002 led to a Super Bowl appearance. The 3-0 start to kick off to that season set the tone for an 11-5 record that year, good for No. 1 in the AFC West, before ultimately becoming the conference champs.
Kubiak’s name now stands alongside both. The milestone reflects the Raiders’ ability to win with an offense that has ran its offensive plays sharply. Kubiak’s schematics have allowed Kirk Cousins to spread the ball to all of his receivers and lead scoring drives.
Kubiak’s 3-0 start has given the franchise a realistic chance to make a playoff push this season.
