In the first quarter of the Raiders game in New England on Sunday, DT Tonka Hemingway left with an injury. Initially it was called a stinger, but a short time later, he was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a neck injury.
Monday, Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak announced the second-year defensive tackle had entered the concussion protocol, putting his status for Week 6 in doubt.
The Raiders have had two players suffer concussions this season prior to this and neither of them were able to play the following week. The first was Treydan Stukes who suffered a concussion in Week 2 that caused him to miss the game in New Orleans. The second was Jalen Nailor who suffered a concussion in the game against the Chiefs in Week 4, causing him to miss Sunday's
game in New England.
Hemingway is a big part of this Raiders defensive line. Coming into his second season, he has ascended to being the top interior defensive lineman on the team and the most consistent presence on the field throughout training camp and the regular season.
Should he end up missing the game, the starters would be Adam Butler and Folorunso Fatukasi with Thomas Booker and Jonah Laulu rotating in.
