With Ashton Jeanty hobbled by ankle and foot injuries, it looked like he may not even play in the game. He was literally a game time decision. What that figured to mean, had Jeanty been sat down, was that rookie Mike Washington would get the rock and his first start.
But even with Jeanty playing, it seemed like the team would be wise to split the snaps a bit more evenly between him and Washington. That did not happen.
The rookie back saw just five snaps in the game and carried the ball one time -- both season lows for Washington and the first time this season he got fewer carries than Laube.
Head coach Klint Kubiak said it was a matter of abandoning the run too early and took the blame for that. It's certainly possible that's a big part of this.
Jeanty saw season lows in snaps (32) and carries (10) as well. Only Dylan Laube saw a season-high (23), which was more to do with the game being out of reach late.
