Here I was scrolling Instagram (I'm not proud of this) when somewhat randomly there was Fernando Mendoza showing up for his new manager job at Taco Bell. And just as surprisingly, I quickly found myself wheezing laughing because Fernando is absolutely hilarious. Delivering what can only be described as perfect comedic timing.
The ad begins with Mendoza arriving so early, the place hasn't opened yet. Because, of course, he is the ultimate overachiever. This includes him straightening his business cards which is...lol.
Then he's working at the drive-thru, where he asks a customer if we could "align on your spice expectations" to which a fellow employee has to translate to the confused customer that he means what sauce he would like.
The next clip,
he asks a drive-thru customer if he'd like a business card, then waves and says "Goodbye!" to which the employee points out that he doesn't need to wave. So he puts his hand down and calls out "Goodbye!" again.
His delivery is so perfect and I swear I laugh harder every time I see him put his hand down and yell "Goodbye!" again.
The ad campaign is pure genius and they're going to get so much mileage out of it. Mendoza is so likeable and perfect that the material for the bit is seemingly endless. I find myself wanting to see the next ad like the next episode of my favorite show or something.
