When the news came down the Raiders had claimed CB Darrell Luter off waivers from the 49ers, the only question was who would be cut from the players who were on the initial 53-man roster to make room. Now we know.
The cut player is third-year cornerback Decamerion Richardson.
Richardson did some good things in camp this year. He came into camp looking like he might be the odd man out with some new faces on the team. But to his credit he made the decision a tough one for the Raiders. Tough enough to keep him around through the initial cuts.
But then then the Raiders saw third-year CB Darrell Luter -- who locked up receivers all game in their preseason finale against the 49ers -- had been cut. And with the top position in the waiver order, he was
the one player they used it on. And just like that, Richardson was nudged out.
At this point, however, with all the moves by many teams already made, he could see a return to the practice squad, joining Greedy Vance who had also made a strong push for a roster spot with a strong camp and preseason.
