The Raiders will be without starting left cornerback Darien Porter with a foot injury as they head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers this week. The second-year corner suffered a foot injury in the team's season opener against the Dolphins and after missing all week of practices, head coach Klint Kubiak announced Porter will be ruled OUT.
Kubiak brought up the two rookie cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Hezekiah Masses as being the two options to replace Porter in his starting role. He would not name a starter, saying only that "We'll see" which will get the nod.
It was the sixth rounder Masses who came into the game late against the Dolphins when Porter suffered the injury. McCoy was selected at the top of the fourth round, but has been eased along
due to having not played in a game since late in the 2024 season. His long term prospects are high, but the Raiders want to make sure he is ready before putting him in.
Either way, the Raiders are expected to have a rookie starter on one side at cornerback. Eric Stokes will start on the other side with Taron Johnson at the nickel slot.
