There were rumors all offseason long that the Las Vegas Raiders would look to trade quarterback Aidan O'Connell. It made total sense. O'Connell was relegated to QB3 duties after the team added Kirk Cousins and No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
An appropriate opportunity failed to materialize throughout training camp or the preseason. Instead of outright releasing him and getting nothing in return, the Raiders are carrying O'Connell on the 53-man roster as their third quarterback.
Well, a new opportunity to trade O'Connell may arise now. The New York Giants lost starting quarterback Jaxson Dart to a potentially season-ending knee injury on Monday Night Football in Week 2. The Giants could be in the market for a starter.

Winston replaced Dart and played terribly. Winston threw an awful interception and completed less than 50% of his passing attempts. The Giants' season is probably over if he's the new quarterback. O'Connell would represent an upgrade.
The Raiders' 2023 fourth-round pick is in a contract year. The former Purdue standout would likely welcome an opportunity to start elsewhere before hitting free agency this coming offseason.
The Giants defeated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. They probably felt like potential playoff contenders prior to Dart's injury. They shouldn't let an injury to their quarterback totally derail their campaign. Trading for O'Connell would make sense for the Giants.
