Tuesday the Raiders made the obvious roster move. There was to be an open roster spot with WR Jack Bech headed to injured reserve. And they filled it by signing WR Cody White off the practice squad after the three-time practice squad elevated wideout scored three touchdowns.
They also added WR Philip Dorsett to the practice squad, but at the same time, they released WR Justin Shorter, which meant there was an open spot on the practice squad.
Wednesday they made the squad whole again, adding RB Owen Wright.
The former undrafted free agent out of Monmouth is entering his fourth year in the NFL. He entered the league with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, appearing in one game. He was lost to injury for the 2024 season and reappeared last season with the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, spending the year on the practice squad and getting the max call up of three times and carrying the ball just three times for six yards.
In four NFL game appearances, Wright has seen 32 snaps , 25 of those coming on special teams.
Wright spent this past offseason with the Houston Texans, where Raiders got an up close look at him with the two teams holding a scrimmage against each other before their preseason matchup. Wright was released by the Texans with their final roster cuts.
