Not everything and everyone is terrible on the Raiders these days. Though in the midst of a four-game losing streak it can seem that way. The outlook seems especially grim as it relates to the defense being that they are currently tied for the longest streak in franchise history of allowing at least 27 points per game.
But in times like these, it's important to find the bright spots. One might just be the play of nickel cornerback Taron Johnson. The latest numbers show the Raiders veteran cornerback has among the best numbers in terms of yards allowed per coverage snap.

As Arif Hasan from Wide Left discovered, Johnson has given up just .63 yards per coverage snaps, which is 11th in the league through the first seven games. Above the likes of Pat Surtain and Christian Gonzalez.
Johnson was acquired by the Raiders back in March in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. And Buffalo has been missing him this season for sure.
The 30-year-old has made some good plays this season for the Raiders. He has another year on his contract after this one, but there is no guaranteed money left on that deal, so it's likely he and the Raiders will have to discuss whether or not to give him an extension following this season. Which, at this point, could make some sense. And possibly lower his current $10 million cap figure for 2027.
