The Las Vegas Raiders were not able to hang on to a fourth-quarter lead Sunday and lost to the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 30-27 in a tough Week 4 defeat. The Raiders and Chiefs entered the matchup undefeated at 3-0 and were looking to assert themselves as the top overall team in the AFC West, and though Las Vegas played a great game, they were ultimately overcome by Kansas City.
Las Vegas entered the final quarter ahead 13-10 and appeared positioned to deliver Kansas City its first defeat of the season. Instead, the Raiders gave up 20 more points as the Chiefs seized control late. Kenneth Walker III scored twice on the ground, including a 22-yard touchdown run with 3:02 remaining that gave Kansas City the decisive lead.
Kirk Cousins kept
the Raiders in contention, completing 31 of 52 passes for 365 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Brock Bowers caught six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, providing a reliable target throughout the afternoon. However, Las Vegas was not able to establish its rushing attack, producing 72 yards on 26 carries.
The Raiders outgained Kansas City 437-399 and collected 28 first downs, but failed to capitalize in pivotal situations. Two turnovers hurt Las Vegas, as did an 0-for-2 showing in the red zone. Nevertheless, the game was thrilling and proved that the Raiders’ early-season success has been legitimate and the team is capable of going toe-to-toe with the best teams in the league.
Let’s take a look at how social media reacted to the Raiders’ loss to the Chiefs.
