This Sunday, the Raiders take another step up in terms of degree of difficulty in an opponent. It’s Chiefs week. And as has been the case more times than not over the past decade or so, the Chiefs are playing well.
Raidders causes for concern vs Chiefs
1. Kenneth Walker running wild
The reigning Super Bowl MVP has been on a tear this season. He leads the league in rushing and yards after contact. Earning him AFC Offensive Player of the Month honors. The 5-9, 211-pound back is a force to be reckoned with and while he may wear down late in the season, we are not late in the season. His legs are still fresh and he easily becomes the toughest back the Raiders have faced this season.
2. Chiefs pass defense
Overall the Chiefs are fielding a top five defense this season, both in terms of yards and points. Their pass defense is where they shine
the brightest. They lead the league in passing TD’s allowed, having surrendered just two on the season. And they are sixth in interceptions (three), yards allowed through the air (535), and net yards per attempt (5.4).
3. Chiefs Kingdom takeover
The hostile environment in New Orleans didn’t seem to affect the Raiders offense. They will likely have to overcome it again with the Chiefs coming to town. Chiefs fans are always well represented when their team is in Las Vegas. Sure, the Raiders are giving their fans more to root for, but most likely the Chiefs fans on hand bought their tickets before the season even began, so it may not matter. Not to mention they want this to be a good game, so the success of both teams is even more incentive to make the trip.
