The New York Jets just handed the Miami Dolphins their first win of the season, and the sportsbook has given them an edge over the Raiders Sunday. A home loss to a previously winless team usually costs a little respect, but apparently not this week.
To be fair, neither side is walking in with much swagger. The Jets (2-5) have lost two straight, and the Raiders (3-4) have dropped four in a row. Ironically, their point differentials are almost identical, with Las Vegas at minus-14 and New York at minus-13. Even so, the Raiders open as underdogs for the seventh straight week.
Raiders vs. Jets opening odds for Week 8
BetMGM has the Jets as 1.5-point favorites, with New York at -120 on the money line and the Raiders at even money (+100). The over-under sits at 45.5 points, two fewer than
last week’s opening total against the Rams.
Early bettors aren’t buying the Jets, though. The Raiders have drawn 83% of the money line bets so far, and 57% of the bets on the total are on the over.
History leans their way too, since the Raiders are 5-2 against the spread this season and have won four of their last five meetings with the Jets.
