After three practice squad elevations and three touchdowns in the process, the Raiders have finally made it official with WR Cody White. The receiver Klint Kubiak added from his former Seahawks offense has been signed to the active roster.
The roster spot opened up with the injury to WR Jack Bech. The second-year receiver suffered a forearm injury in the second quarter against the Saints on Sunday on a play that yielded an unnecessary roughness penalty on safety Justin Reid.
The IR designation means the Raiders will be without Bech for at least four weeks.
These moves looked like the obvious ones to make considering the injury at the position and the fact that White had spent the allotted three practice squad elevations, meaning if they wanted
to have him up again, they would have to sign him. And despite the risk sending him back to the practice squad presented after his heroics in the first two games, the move proved to be the right one.
White's first big play came on special teams in the opener when he ran down the Dolphins' return man to make the stop short of the score. He then made two TD catches in their win in LA over the Chargers. And added a third in Sunday's win over the Saints. He more than earned his spot on the roster.
Along with those moves, the Raiders swapped out practice squad receivers, bringing back Phillip Dorsett and waiving Justin Shorter.
