The Las Vegas Raiders host the Buffalo Bills in an AFC showdown. The Raiders are coming off back-to-back losses as they look to rebound against a tough 4-1 Bills team. These are the Bills players the Raiders must game plan to try and stop if they hope to have a shot at winning.
QB Josh Allen
So far this season, Allen has thrown for 1,249 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions. On the ground, he has run for 239 yards and eight touchdowns, leading all quarterbacks. Allen is a true dual-threat quarterback, and he rushed for 121 yards Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams. The Raiders must keep Allen in the pocket and not open lanes for him to escape. It's a hard task, but if the Raiders want to succeed, they will need to do it. Pass-rush discipline
will be key.
RB James Cook
James Cook has rushed for 532 yards and five touchdowns this season, which is near the top in the NFL. On Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, Cook rushed for 11 yards and two touchdowns. Cook has the speed and quickness to find running lanes, and with the Raiders averaging 140.6 rushing yards per game, He should be licking his chops.
The Raiders must control the game plan in the running game and improve as a team in tackling. They haven't been able to do that in the past few weeks. Las Vegas must limit Cook's big runs. He has fumbled four times this season, so the Raiders must try to punch the ball out.
WR Khalil Shakir
Khalil Shakir leads the Bills' receiving corps this season, with 18 catches for 256 yards. Shakir is a quick-shifty slot receiver who can turn short passes into big gains. The Raiders must make sure Shakir is accounted for; it will be up to slot corner Taron Johnson to slow Shakir down. Las Vegas must avoid blown coverages and tackle Shakir immediately after he catches the ball.
TE Dalton Kincaid
One of Allen's favorite targets is tight end Dalton Kincaid. He leads the Bills with 277 receiving yards on 16 catches with one touchdown. Kincaid knows how to get open, so the Raiders' safeties and linebackers must cover him tightly because he can beat you.
The Raiders' defense will have to be on point this game, whether it's shutting down the run, limiting Allen's running lanes, or covering Shakir and Kincaid. Linebackers Nakobe Dean and Quay Walker, safeties Jermey Chinn and Treydan Stukes, and CB Taron Johnson will have their hands full in this one.
