There was some excitement surrounding the Raiders defense coming into this season. Most notably the pass rush, where Maxx Crosby seemed to be feeling pretty good about finally getting some help.
The biggest addition to the room at edge rusher was Kwity Paye. The sixth-year veteran was looking for a bounce back year after a down season in 2025. In the season opener, he showed up big time, including two sacks, four QB hits, and two tackles for loss. That performance had the Raiders feel pretty good about signing him. Since then, he's completely disappeared.
Meanwhile, Maxx Crosby continues to do work. Just how bad has the dichotomy been between the two edge rushers? Night and day.

According to data compiled by Pro Football Focus, Maxx Crosby has the best numbers in the NFL when factoring in percentage of double teams and Pass Rush Win Rate.
On the complete opposite end of that? Kwity Paye.
While being double teamed about league average, he has the lowest pass rush win rate in the league.
Pass rush win rate was an area Paye struggled in mightily last season and why many criticized the Raiders making him one of their top free agents this offseason. The hope was that his issues there were fixable, considering he had put up pretty good sack and QB hit numbers in the few seasons before that. But as of now, he seems to be proving last season was just who he is now.
Also worth noting here is the placement of Malcolm Koonce among the top pass rushers in the graphic. Koonce re-signed with the team this offseason on a one-year deal.
