The Las Vegas Raiders got quite the debut from Nakobe Dean in their Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins. Dean was all over the field in his first game with the Raiders, and made good on the offseason expectations that surrounded his name, though in only the first game of the year.
Sports Illustrated’s Eva Geitheim named Dean as being an offseason addition who is already making his new team look smart
after what he produced in Week 1.“The Raiders made a number of signings to improve their defense in free agency this offseason, including bringing in linebacker Nakobe Dean, who shined in their win over the Dolphins on Sunday. Dean tied for the team lead in tackles with six while also recording a sack and a forced fumble.”
In addition to that high
level of output, Dean also recorded two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit in the win. The Raiders were high on Dean and fellow newcomer Quay Walker as being two new linebackers with the skills to improve the team’s second line of defense in 2026. At least for one game, Dean looked the part. He’s instilled confidence in Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Leonard, the coaching staff and the front office moving forward.
