For the fourth straight week the Raiders open as underdogs. They have been able to beat the odds in each of the previous three contests, winning the first two against the Chargers and Saints and covering the spread (4.5) against the Chiefs.
Raiders opening odds Week 5 vs Patriots
The Patriots (2-2) are 3.5-point favorites in New England over the Raiders (3-1).
Even though the Raiders have a better record (3-1) than the Patriots (2-2) and their only loss was a tight one against the now undefeated Chiefs, the Raiders are still not picked to win.
Part of that could be the Patriots are coming in hot off beating a tough Bills team and the game is in their house. The Raiders will be traveling all the way across the country to play an early game and those details tend to go in favor of the home
team.
The Raiders nearly shocked the Chiefs and the rest of the NFL last Sunday, proving they are capable of beating pretty much any team, any given week. It should be another great game this week.
