Texas A&M basketball got great news on Monday, with Rylan Griffen being granted a temporary restraining order that makes him eligible for the 2026-27 season, according to Luke Evangelist of TexAgs.
The TRO was given to him by Judge John Brick in Brazos County and will allow him to play a fifth collegiate season. Griffen emerged as a key player for Texas A&M last season, his first with the Aggies after stops with the Kansas Jayhawks and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Griffen appeared in 32 games last season, making 27 starts and finishing second on the team in scoring (11.2), first in steals (1.6), and third in assists (2.5) per game. The guard scored in double figures 16 times, including scoring a career-high 24 points against the LSU Tigers to end the regular
season.
The Dallas native shot 45.3% from the field, 40.4% from 3-point range, and 77.4% from the three-throw line. He averaged 2.7 rebounds per game. He has averaged 8.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 138 career games.
He was originally out of eligibility following the 2025-26 season and joined the Denver Nuggets for the NBA Summer League. While he played in one game for them, he reportedly did not sign a contract with them, making his return to College Station much simpler.
