Texas A&M handled its final nonconference game exactly as expected, defeating The Citadel 41-0 at Kyle Field. The Aggies improved to 4-3 after finishing with 501 total yards and recording their second shutout of the season.
The victory gave A&M an opportunity to rebuild some confidence after its loss to Missouri. The running game produced a season-high 264 yards, while several younger players received extended playing time during the second half. However, beating an FCS opponent did not answer every question surrounding the Aggies.
The remaining schedule became even more difficult to predict after another chaotic weekend. Tennessee dominated Alabama, Kentucky won at Oklahoma and Florida handed Texas its second consecutive loss. South Carolina
had the week off after earning a convincing win over Florida.
Texas A&M has five conference games remaining, including three on the road. Here is an updated ranking of the Aggies’ remaining opponents from easiest to toughest heading into Week 8.
Here is an updated ranking of Texas A&M’s seven remaining opponents from easiest to toughest heading into Week 8.
5. Texas A&M @ South Carolina - Week 10
2026 record: 3-3
Analysis: South Carolina had the week off after ending its three-game losing streak with a 38-19 victory over Florida. LaNorris Sellers threw five touchdown passes during that win and showed what the Gamecocks can do when their offense finds a rhythm. This remains A&M’s most manageable SEC game, but winning at Williams-Brice Stadium will not be easy.
4. Texas A&M @ Oklahoma - Week 12
2025 final record: 3-3
Analysis: Oklahoma could not build on its rivalry win over Texas, falling 21-13 at home against Kentucky. John Mateer threw four interceptions, including one that was returned for the game-clinching touchdown. The Sooners have lost three of their last four games, but their defense and home-field advantage make this another difficult road test.
3. Texas A&M @ Alabama - Week 8
2026 record: 5-2
Analysis: Alabama has lost two consecutive games after falling 26-10 at Tennessee. The Crimson Tide finished with only 201 total yards, committed four turnovers, and failed to score in the second half. A&M is catching Alabama during its worst stretch of the season, but winning at Bryant-Denny Stadium still requires a much better performance than the Aggies produced in their previous two road games.
2. Texas A&M vs. Tennessee - Week 11
2026 record: 6-1
Analysis: Tennessee made one of the weekend’s biggest statements by controlling Alabama. DeSean Bishop rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns, while the Volunteers forced four turnovers to win their third straight game. A&M gets Tennessee at Kyle Field, but the Volunteers currently look like the best team remaining on the schedule.
1. Texas A&M vs. Texas - Week 13
2026 record: 4-2
Analysis: Texas has lost two straight games after falling 27-24 at home to Florida. The Longhorns allowed 24 unanswered points and lost their final opportunity when Arch Manning fumbled late in the fourth quarter. Their recent problems are difficult to ignore, but wins over Ohio State and Tennessee showed how dangerous this roster can be. The rivalry game remains A&M’s biggest and toughest assignment, especially if Texas arrives at Kyle Field with its postseason hopes on the line.
