Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Nnamdi Madubuike was back on an NFL field Sunday, and that matters more than anything he put in the box score.
Madubuike made his season debut for Baltimore against Dallas in Rio de Janeiro after a neck injury
kept him out for roughly a year. It was his first game action since Week 2 of the 2025 season, when an injury that eventually required surgery brought his year to an early end.For a player who had become one of Baltimore’s best interior pass rushers, it was a long time away. Madubuike recorded 13 sacks in 2023 and earned two Pro Bowl selections before the injury. There were questions about when he would be able to play again, so simply making it through Sunday’s game was an important step.
The Ravens made
his return a memorable one, beating the Cowboys 34-31 on Tyler Loop’s 56-yard field goal as time expired. Madubuike recorded three tackles, including one solo stop, and Baltimore improved to 2-1. He did not record a sack or quarterback hit, but it would have been a lot to expect him to immediately pick up where he left off after a year away.
Madubuike said afterward that he felt good in his return. Baltimore will have to see how he responds over the next few weeks, especially as he works his way back into the defensive line rotation. The Ravens have missed what he can do in the middle of their defense and getting him through his first game gives them something to build on.
For Aggies fans, the best part of Sunday was seeing him back in uniform. The tackles and sacks can come later. After everything it took to return, Madubuike got to play football again and leave Brazil with a win.
