Texas A&M returns to Kyle Field on Saturday to reset against The Citadel before returning to SEC play.
The Aggies are 3-3 after losing three of their first four conference games, including a 27-6 loss at Missouri. A&M has failed to score a touchdown in two of its last three games, putting more pressure on Marcel Reed and offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins to show progress against an FCS opponent.
The Citadel enters the matchup 2-4 and has dropped its last three Southern Conference games. The Bulldogs rely heavily on their option-based rushing attack, but the talent gap should still allow A&M to control the game if it avoids turnovers and plays disciplined defense.
Texas A&M is favored by more than 40 points, and every prediction below expects
the Aggies to win comfortably. The bigger question is whether Mike Elko’s team can use the matchup to correct some of the problems that have followed it throughout SEC play.
Here’s who the experts are picking to win this week’s showdown:
- Bill Connelly − ESPN SP+: Texas A&M
- David Kenyon − Bleacher Report: Texas A&M
- Ryan Wooden – CBS Sports: Texas A&M
- Trent Knoop – The Big Lead: Texas A&M
- ESPN Analytics: Texas A&M with a 99% win probability
There is no debate over which team should win. For Texas A&M, success will be measured by more than the final score. The Aggies need a sharp performance, offensive improvement and an opportunity to get younger players onto the field before next week’s trip to Alabama.
