Texas A&M had nearly 50 former players and coaches spread across the NFL during Week 1, giving Aggie fans several familiar names to follow throughout the opening weekend.
Mike Evans delivered the most impactful offensive performance in his San Francisco 49ers debut. The veteran receiver caught six passes for 49 yards, converted three third downs and scored his first touchdown in a 49ers uniform. It was the 109th touchdown reception of his career, further adding to a résumé that should eventually land him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Defensively, Edgerrin Cooper was the top-performing former Aggie. He recorded seven tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack despite Green Bay losing to the Minnesota Vikings. Cooper is quickly developing into
one of the NFL’s rising young linebackers, and his athleticism gives the Packers the flexibility to move him around the defense and create favorable pass-rushing matchups.
Several younger Aggies either made their NFL debuts or began earning opportunities on 53-man rosters. KC Concepcion, Cashius Howell and Nate Boerkircher did not stuff the stat sheet, but all three recorded some production during their first regular-season games.
Second-year wide receiver Jahdae Walker also continues to find ways onto the field after going undrafted in 2025. Whether it is making a timely catch or delivering a hit on special teams, Walker has taken advantage of his limited opportunities.
In a week filled with mixed results, Evans helped San Francisco earn a win in Melbourne, Cooper stood out in a loss and several younger Aggies officially began their NFL careers.
