Texas A&M's 2026 secondary is one of the deepest units in the SEC, led by senior cornerbacks Dezz Ricks and Julio Humphrey, combined with seniors Dalton Brooks and Marcus Ratcliffe, leading an equally talented safety rotation that made a significant impact during the Aggies' second-half run in last Saturday's 48-24 win over Arizona State.
Going back to former coach Jimbo Fisher's 2023 recruiting class, current senior cornerback Bravion Rogers was a blue-chip prospect with immense potential but had a hard time seeing the field during his first season; thanks to coach Mike Elko's keen eye for talent, Rogers became one of the program's top special teams players and is entering the 2026 offseason in competition for the starting nickel job with former Washington
transfer Jordan Shaw.
After playing 39 snaps last season, Rogers has already matched that number through two games and was one of the top-rated cornerbacks in coverage, per Pro Football Focus, allowing just two receptions for seven yards on five targets against Arizona State and earning an impressive 71.4 coverage grade.
Still, if Bravion Rogers makes it to the NFL, which is expected after the 2026 season, his best chance at long-term success starts with special teams ability. During Wednesday's Aggie Football Hour, Mike Elko praised Bravion Rogers' impact through the first two games:
"So proud of that kid. He optimizes what we are trying to build here. He hasn't got everything he's ever wanted. He hasn't got all the playing time he's ever wanted."
"He's building himself into an NFL special teams player."
Similar to wide receiver TK Norman, who forced the early fumble against the Sun Devils on special teams, which resulted in Texas A&M taking a 7-0 lead after Rueben Owens' touchdown, both he and Rogers could have easily entered the transfer portal but stayed the course and have already made significant impacts this season.
