Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is defined by its six five-star commitments, who aren't just elite athletes at their positions but also perfect cultural fits, embracing what coach Mike Elko and his staff are continuing to build in College Station during his third season at the helm.
During the first two games of the 2026 season, Texas A&M defeated Missouri State and Arizona State by a combined 98-20, including last Saturday's 48-20 blowout win over the Sun Devils, thanks to a 24-point fourth quarter that included two pick-six touchdowns from Edge Marco Jones and cornerback Julio Humphrey.
Both games also served as key recruiting opportunities in the 2027, 2028, and 2029 cycles, while 2027 five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson, who
has all but shut down his recruitment after his recent interview with GigEm247, where he confirmed that he planned to visit all seven Texas A&M home games, has lived up to his promise so far.
For those who may have forgotten, Henderson chose the Aggies over Notre Dame in a razor-tight battle that came down to his strong relationship with Mike Elko, defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill, and linebackers coach Travis Williams, but in today's recruiting age, nothing is set in stone until players sign a program in early December.
On Tuesday, Henderson spoke with Aggie Yell (subscription required) insider Joseph Hastings and said Notre Dame has continued to pursue his commitment, but he further confirmed he is "100% committed" to Texas A&M and will not visit Notre Dame during the 2026 season.
“(Notre Dame is) still recruiting me, to be honest. I’ll be real honest, but I’m 100% committed to A&M,” Henderson told Aggie Yell on Friday. “I’m not scheduled to go to any Notre Dame games. I’m happy to be an Aggie. That’s where I’m at right now.”
