Kaia Castle dominated at the net for Texas A&M volleyball last week. On Monday, the conference recognized her performance.
Castle was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 17 blocks across two matches against No. 6 Tennessee and No. 14 Texas. The junior middle blocker averaged 2.43 blocks per set and accounted for 19.5 points. Castle delivered her best performance Friday against Tennessee, finishing with a season-high 12 blocks in the Aggies' four-set victory. Her total ranked fourth in program history for a four-set match and helped Texas A&M record a season-high 16 team blocks.
She followed that performance with five blocks Sunday against Texas, marking her seventh match this season with at least five blocks. Although the Aggies
fell in three sets, Castle remained a consistent presence defensively.
