For the first time since 1997, the Southeastern Conference went undefeated in each respective season opener, with all 16 teams boasting a 1-0 record entering the second week of the 2026 college football season.
The Missouri Tigers kicked things off with a dominant 54-14 win over Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Thursday night. Dominance was a common theme in Week 1, as 12 teams notched wins by 21 points or more.
That includes the Texas A&M Aggies, who pitched their first shutout since 1996. Entering his third season as the head coach in College Station, Mike Elko led his team to a 50-0 win over Missouri State, with junior quarterback Marcel Reed showcasing his offseason improvements. However, more challenging tasks are ahead for the Aggies, including a matchup
against Arizona State on Saturday.
