The Texas A&M Aggies will be without two players for the 2026 season, head coach Mike Elko announced on Thursday. According to On3's Carter Karels, defensive tackle Chace Sims and running back Tiger Riden Jr. will miss the entire season with injuries.
Sims is entering his sophomore season with the Aggies after not playing during the 2025 season. The 6-foot-3, 293-pounder was competeting with several other players to earn a rotational role at defensive tackle prior to his injury.
The Richmond, Texas product was a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, ranking as the No. 227 overall player and No. 23 defensive lineman in the 247Sports composite.
Riden played in five games last year as a true freshman, playing in Texas A&M's final five games of
the year. He recorded a carry in just one game, finished with 11 carries for 45 yards and one touchdown in their 48-0 win over Samford.
At 5-foot-10 and 219 pounds, he was in line to take on a bigger role as a sophomore due to his physical running style. The DeSoto, Texas product also battled injuries during his freshman year, and his absence puts more pressure on starter Reuben Owens II and Jamarion Morrow to stay healthy.
Texas A&M will open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 against the Missouri State Bears at Kyle Field. The game will start at 6 p.m. CT and air on ESPN.
