Texas A&M returns from its bye week Saturday, traveling to Columbiato face No. 23 South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium.
The Aggies enter the matchup 4-4 overall and 1-4 in SEC play following a 31-20 loss to Alabama on Oct. 24. Texas A&M has struggled against conference competition, particularly on the road, where it scored just six points in losses to LSU and Missouri.
South Carolina enters the matchup 5-3 and riding a three-game winning streak. The Gamecocks have found success behind dual-threat quarterback LaNorris Sellers, whose ability to extend plays and create opportunities with his legs presents another challenge for Texas A&M's defense.
Both teams have plenty to play for as the regular season enters its final stretch. South Carolina
enters Saturday as roughly a touchdown favorite, and most national experts expect the Gamecocks to come away with the victory. However, at least one analyst believes the Aggies can pull off the upset.
Here is who the experts and prediction models are picking to win this week's matchup:
- Bill Connelly – ESPN SP+: South Carolina by 3.8 points
- David Kenyon – Bleacher Report: South Carolina, 27-23
- Pete Fiutak – College Football News: South Carolina
- Jake Margolick – College Football News: Texas A&M
- ESPN Analytics: South Carolina with a 54.1% win probability
For Texas A&M, Saturday offers a chance to change the narrative around its struggles in SEC play. The Aggies have shown flashes of offensive potential but have yet to put together a complete road performance against a conference opponent. Coming off a bye week, Mike Elko's team will look to make the necessary adjustments and deliver a more consistent effort against the Gamecocks.
Texas A&M leads the all-time series 10-2 but has lost its last two meetings in Columbia. Ending that road drought would give Mike Elko's team a much-needed SEC victory and provide momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
