Texas A&M (2-1, 0-1 SEC) will play its first road game of the season when it travels to Tiger Stadium to face LSU (2-1, 0-1 SEC) on Saturday night.
Both teams enter the matchup looking to rebound from their first losses of the season. Texas A&M dropped 12 spots to No. 20 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after suffering a 31-21 loss to Kentucky at Kyle Field.
The Aggies struggled to finish drives and committed three turnovers, including two interceptions by Marcel Reed. Texas A&M’s defense did little to help, allowing Kentucky to score 21 unanswered points in the third quarter and finish with 411 total yards.
LSU also fell short in its SEC opener, losing 32-24 at Ole Miss. The Tigers fell behind 17-0 and entered halftime trailing 24-7 before scoring
17 unanswered points to tie the game. Ole Miss reclaimed the lead with a late touchdown, and LSU’s final opportunity ended when Sam Leavitt threw an interception in the end zone.
Texas A&M has won the last two meetings against LSU, including last season’s victory at Tiger Stadium. However, oddsmakers expect the Tigers to end that streak while playing at home.
LSU opened as a two-score favorite over an Aggies team coming off its most disappointing performance of the young season. Texas A&M will need a much cleaner performance from Reed and a significant improvement from its defense to avoid beginning SEC play with consecutive losses.

Texas A&M vs LSU prediction, pick:
Texas A&M has beaten LSU in consecutive seasons, but the Aggies will need to play significantly better to extend that streak. Their offensive line remains inconsistent; Reed is getting beat under pressure, and injuries have reduced the explosive options available to first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins.
The defense is an even bigger concern after allowing Kentucky to repeatedly generate chunk plays. LSU struggled during the first half against Ole Miss, but Leavitt and the Tigers showed enough explosiveness during their comeback to take advantage of the same coverage problems Kentucky exposed.
Texas A&M should play better overall than it did against Kentucky, and the Aggies have enough talent to keep the game competitive. However, trusting them to correct all their problems in one week while playing their first road game at Tiger Stadium is difficult.
