After a 4-4 start to the 2026 season, Texas A&M football has an opportunity to regroup this week before its brutal four-game gauntlet against rising SEC teams.
It has been a season the Aggies wish they could forget thus far. Just one season removed from notching an 11-1 regular season record and reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history, Texas A&M has its back against the ropes to try and secure bowl eligibility.
Much of the downfall has come via the Aggie offense, which ranks No. 105 in the FBS in total offense, No. 72 in scoring offense and No. 129 in explosive plays of 20-plus yards. For third-year head coach Mike Elko to lead his team to the postseason and avoid having this year be a complete disaster, he must
find an answer to fix the offensive woes, sooner rather than later.
With just four games left to try and salvage the 2026 season, here is Texas A&M's remaining schedule and predictions for each contest on the slate:
Nov. 14 - at South Carolina (4-3)
Williams-Brice Stadium is one of the most intimidating and underrated college football atmospheres in the nation. It is much more chaotic when the Gamecocks are at their best. South Carolina has hit its stride in recent weeks, securing ranked wins over Florida and Tennessee. Star edge rusher Dylan Stewart has played lights-out since serving a game suspension for his behavior in the Alabama game and quarterback LaNorris Sellers has been unstoppable. At this point in the season, it is difficult to see a path for Texas A&M to slow down South Carolina's explosive offense or prevent Stewart from wreaking havoc on quarterback Marcel Reed, handing the Aggies their fifth loss.
Record after Week 10: 4-5 (1-5 in SEC)
Nov. 14 - vs. No. 16 Tennessee (6-2)
Fortunately, Texas A&M does not have to travel to Neyland Stadium to play the Tennessee Volunteers in Week 11. The Aggies will be able to return home to Kyle Field to host Josh Heupel and company, who will be coming off a home contest against a top-10 Kentucky squad. This could be a spot where Elko and company could steal a game against a much-better opponent, but Texas A&M's inability to protect the quarterback and Reed's tendency to panic under pressure won't be a winning formula against Tennessee's top-five SEC defensive unit.
Record after Week 11: 4-6 (1-6 in SEC)
Nov. 21 - at Oklahoma (4-3)
Next up, the Aggies will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, to face Brent Venables and the Sooners. Oklahoma had its respective struggles throughout the season trying to allow John Mateer to find his rhythm and turn things around offensively. The play-calling from offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle has been questionable and sometimes costly. On the other side, the defense ranks No. 2 in the conference and has been dominant in league play. This is another matchup that doesn't favor Texas A&M, especially with the recent offensive struggles.
Record after Week 12: 4-7 (1-7 in SEC)
Nov. 27 - vs. No. 11 Texas
Texas has been one of the most unpredictable teams in college football this year. The Longhorns have notched wins over No. 1 Ohio State and No. 7 Ole Miss thus far, but have also dropped contests to unranked Oklahoma and Florida. The status of NFL-bound edge rusher Colin Simmons is still up in the air after he suffered an injury against the Gators, but the defensive unit has still performed well under new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. While Arch Manning has been inconsistent at times, it is challenging to stop the offensive talent when they are at their best. Unfortunately for the Aggies, I don't see a world where they are capable of stopping the Longhorns, especially if their playoff hopes are still intact by the time November 27 rolls around.
Record after Week 12: 4-8 (1-8 in SEC)
