Texas A&M's 34-7 home win over Arkansas was, by all accounts, a must-win after back-to-back losses to Kentucky and LSU, two teams that have allowed only one loss this season. Still, outside of losing to the Tigers, the Kentucky loss was more telling, especially in the secondary, as the Aggies allowed too many explosive plays in both losses.
Nothing matches starting quarterback Marcel Reed's struggles in the pocket, throwing for a pedestrian 104 yards against LSU, but thanks to an elite rushing performance, totaling 231 rushing yards against the Razorbacks on Saturday night, Reed was much more efficient in the pocket. He completed 13/19 for 170 yards and ran for 66 yards and a touchdown.
This article isn't about Marcel Reed, but about the improved
play from Texas A&M's offensive line, which featured Tyree Adams at left tackle, Trovon Baugh at left guard, Mark Nabou at center, Wilkin Formby at right guard, and Lamont Rogers at right tackle.
Mark Nabou (82.7), Wilkin Formby (79.4), and Lamont Rogers (78.1) earned impressive pass protection grades (PFF), while Nabou and backup guard Blake Ivy earned 70-plus run-blocking grades. Going forward, first-year OC Holmon Wiggins should keep leaning on the running game, even to excess, which will make Marcel Reed's job easier and set up play-action opportunities.
Marcel Reed was pressured just three times against Arkansas and did a great job evading pressure, while Lamont Rogers has, according to Mike Elko, been one of the top-performing offensive linemen in practice, earning his starting role outright.
This group is trending in the right direction, but will now face a Missouri defense that has produced 15 sacks in five games.
Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed was pressured on only 13.6% (3 of 22) of his dropbacks vs. Arkansas, per PFF. It's the second-lowest pressure rate A&M has totaled through 26 starts from Reed, trailing only its 13.3% rate vs. Florida in 2025.
