No. 16 Texas A&M opened SEC play with a sweep of South Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena.
The Aggies won 25-14, 25-14 and 25-18 to improve to 8-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They held the Gamecocks below 20 points in every set and hit a season-best .385. Taryn Morris led the way with the best match of her career. She was sharp throughout the afternoon, giving A&M an attacking option South Carolina could not slow down. Lolufe Adedeji also made the most of her increased playing time and helped the Aggies control the net.
A&M took control of the opening set with a five-point run that stretched its lead to 20-9. The Aggies then scored the first seven points of the second set behind Margot Manning’s serving, and Morris closed the frame
with consecutive kills.
South Carolina kept the third set close early, but A&M broke a 3-3 tie with a 6-1 run and stayed ahead to complete the sweep.

Aggies reach career milestones
The conference opener was also a milestone match for several Aggies. Stowers recorded her 500th kill at Texas A&M, Fitch reached 100 career kills,and Djurdja Stanojevic registered her first career service ace. Rodriguez, meanwhile, extended her streak of matches with double-digit digs to 11.
Texas A&M has won four straight matches and will remain at Reed Arena to face Alabama on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
