Former Texas A&M defensive end Cashius Howell reached an important milestone Sunday, recording his first NFL sack for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The second-round pick had been generating pressure in his first several appearances but hadn't yet brought down a quarterback for an official sack. Texas A&M Football celebrated the accomplishment on social media, sharing a video of the play.
Howell's first sack comes after a promising start to his professional career. Through his first two games, he recorded seven quarterback pressures, ranking second among NFL rookies at the time, according to Pro Football Focus.
Howell also posted a 17% pass-rush win rate during that stretch, showing his ability to consistently challenge opposing offensive linemen despite
limited opportunities.
The production should come as no surprise to Texas A&M fans. Howell finished his final collegiate season with 11.5 sacks, earning SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors before Cincinnati selected him with the 41st overall pickin the 2026 NFL draft. His transition to the NFL has included competing for snaps in Cincinnati's defensive rotation, but his ability to pressure quarterbacks has remained one of his strengths.
Sunday's milestone represents another step forward for Howell as he looks to establish himself as a consistent contributor to the Bengals' defense.
