Texas A&M (4-4, 1-4 SEC) heads back on the road to face No. 21 South Carolina (5-3, 3-3 SEC), as the Gamecocks have reeled off three consecutive wins over Florida, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, blowing out the Sooners 45-25 last Saturday night. On paper, South Carolina should win this game with ease, but after last year's memorable matchup, anything is possible.
This time last season, South Carolina led Texas A&M 30-3 going into halftime, silencing a packed Kyle Field and nearly ending the Aggies' College Football Playoff dreams. But the Aggies woke up in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points behind starting quarterback Marcel Reed's three touchdowns and mounting one of the largest comebacks in college football history.
Both teams are on different
trajectories, which I don't need to remind Aggie fans, and if Texas A&M has any chance at pulling off the upset, the Aggie defense must force South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers into mistakes, while Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed, who will make his ninth start of the season, must replicate his early play during A&M's 31-20 road loss to Alabama in Week 8.
Texas A&M simply has nothing to lose, playing for bowl game eligibility at this point, while all the pressure is on South Carolina and coach Shane Beamer, who has once again raised the fan base's expectations and cannot lose to a bad A&M team for a second consecutive season, especially at home.
Ahead of Saturday's 2:00 p.m. kickoff, the Texas A&M media team released its weekly hype video, which you can watch below.
