Texas A&M softball returns to Davis Diamond on Wednesday to begin a six-game fall schedule that includes matchups against Texas and Texas State. For head coach Trisha Ford, it is an opportunity to see how a large group of newcomers fits alongside some familiar faces before the 2027 season.
The Aggies open against Murray State College of Oklahoma on Sept. 30, but fans planning to attend need to adjust their morning. A&M moved first pitch to 9:30 a.m. CT from its original evening start because of expected inclement weather.
A&M returns 10 letterwinners, including first-team All-American Mya Perez and all-region selections Sydney Lessentine and Ariel Kowalewski. They will be joined by 16 newcomers, with the program announcing a No. 8 freshman class
and a transfer group considered among the nation’s top five.
There is plenty for Ford and her staff to sort through. Fall games give the newcomers opportunities to compete for roles while allowing the coaches to try different lineups and pitching combinations. With that much roster turnover, these exhibitions should offer an early look at where the Aggies have depth and where they still need work.

All six games will be played at Davis Diamond, and admission is free.
Murray State College brings experience of its own after finishing 66-3 and reaching the NJCAA Division II Women’s College World Series last season. Temple College and McLennan Community College also reached their division’s championship tournament, with Temple finishing as the runner-up.
The final stretch features Texas State on Oct. 30 before A&M closes against Texas on Nov. 6. The Aggies won the finale of last season’s series in Austin, ending the Longhorns’ 29-game winning streak.
